The World Championships are only for those players ranked high enough to qualify and Sophie has done the club and Ireland incredibly proud by reaching the Quarterfinals in both the girls singles and girls doubles. Sophie’s run came to an end today as she faced Miwa Harimoto from Japan, tipped as Japan’s next table tennis superstar following in the footsteps of her famous brother. Sophie lost the match 4-0 but showed good signs in the third set, having a game point but Harimoto was just a little too strong on the day.
