Ormeau star Sophie Earley has managed to qualify for the ITTF hopes selection camp in Shanghai, China. This camp has 6 girls and 6 boys under 13 fighting to qualify for a place on the world hopes team which will compete in the world cadet challenge in Poland this October.
Sophie’s training has consisted of two sessions per day where the first begins at 8:30-11:30am followed by a second session from 2:30-5:30pm. The sessions allow Sophie to play against top Chinese players as well as get top class coaching from some of the world’s best coaches. Irish coach Conn Higgins has been great help to Sophie helping her maintain good focus and work ethic getting the most out of this trip to China.
Over the course of the week Sophie has improved day by day, adapting to the schedule and been working hard under the Chinese and ITTF coaches. We wish Sophie all the best in trying to get selected for the world hopes team!
