Good Weekend @ Junior British League For Ormeau Players

Good Weekend @ Junior British League For Ormeau Players

Ormeau was represented this weekend with a boys team (Julian, Jonathan & Max) travelling out with coach Philip Jamison. After a hard-fought weekend, the lads finished as runner-up in Division 1 to the local Mid Ulster team (Kristijonas, Tom & Joe). The weekend started well with a 4-2 win over London Academy and Sussex Blades but finished with a 3-3 draw against St Marys on Saturday. On Sunday it was coming down to crunch time with the boys needing a win against Fusion but in the end they lost 4-2. This left us needing a strong win against Mid Ulster for the title! It wasn’t to be as Ormeau drew 3-3 with Jonny taking his two singles against Kristijonas and Joe leaving Max to pick up our third win against Tom. Big shout out to the Mid Ulster lads on a well-deserved title! Well done to Jonny who was the player of Division 1 with an impressive 85% win rate winning 17 games from 20!

We also had Lucy and Anjali away with the Ulster Girls team playing in Division 2 of the girl’s division. A great honour for Anjali playing in a Junior (U18) event at only 12 years old! The girls finished the weekend on a high as they won against Byng Hall, Bishop Ackland, Halton then drew with eventual winners Brighton and finally lost out to Greenhouse leaving them as Division 2 runners-up! Lucy McIvor finished with an impressive 70% win rate and 3rd best girl in the division! Many thanks to their coach Erin for a great weekend!

This is a fantastic event and thanks to ETTA for this! Also, shout out to Michael Lovedar who does an awesome job of capturing our players in action!
